NATO summit to agree on comprehensive aid package for Ukraine - Stoltenberg

A comprehensive package of assistance to Ukraine will be agreed at the NATO summit in Madrid on 28-30 June. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said this in a statement after his meeting with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.

According to him, the summit in Madrid will be a key one, because NATO will agree on a new strategic concept. It will fundamentally change the deterrence and defense strategy.

"We will agree on a comprehensive package of assistance to Ukraine to help them defend their right to self-defense. It is extremely important that we are ready to continue our support because Ukraine is now facing brutality that we haven't seen in Europe since World War II," Stoltenberg said.

He also expects the summit to make progress on the accession of Finland and Sweden.
