US Ambassador to NATO: I do not expect Ukraine to be invited to the Alliance at the summit

Ukraine may not be invited to become a member of the North Atlantic Alliance at the upcoming NATO summit in Washington. The event will be held on July 9-11. This was stated by the US Ambassador to NATO Julianne Smith in Reuters.

"As for this summer's summit, I don't expect the Alliance to send an invitation (to Ukraine - ed.) at this stage," Smith said.

According to her, after the 2023 Vilnius summit, NATO allies have been working diligently to help Ukraine implement the necessary domestic reforms to move closer to Euro-Atlantic integration.

"And we continue to prioritize supporting them in their ongoing struggle and ensuring that they can win on the battlefield," the ambassador added.
