EU increases aid to Ukraine in the framework of the defense fund to 2.5 billion euros

The EU Council has agreed on the fifth tranche of military aid to Ukraine worth 500 million euros, bringing the total amount of such allowances to 2.5 billion euros. This was announced by the head of the European Council, Charles Michel.

"Europe continues to work for peace and to protect our values. I welcome the EU Council's political agreement on the fifth tranche for Ukraine under the European Peace Facility (EPF). EU support for military equipment for Ukraine's Armed Forces is now 2.5 billion euros. Europe supports Ukraine," Michel wrote on Twitter.

On December 2, the Council of the European Union made a final decision to establish practical cooperation with Ukraine in the framework of the newly created European Peace Facility (EPF).

The new financial mechanism of the European Union opens up prospects for third countries, in particular Ukraine, to attract financial resources to strengthen the state's institutional defense capabilities.
