In the West, there was talk of the 5th article of the NATO treaty in the event of an accident at the ZNPP because of the Russians

The chairman of the defense committee of the House of Commons of the British Parliament, Tobias Ellwood, said that the deliberate accident with a radiation leak, committed by the Russians at the ZNPP, should be interpreted as an attack on NATO countries. He wrote about it on Twitter.

Ellwood was commenting on press reports that, according to the Ukrainian side, the Russian Federation is creating prerequisites for accusing Ukraine of attacking the Zaporizhzhya NPP.

"Let's make this clear now. Any intentional damage that would cause a potential radiation leak at a Ukrainian nuclear reactor would be a violation of Article 5 of NATO," the British parliamentarian wrote.

His position was supported by a member of the US House of Representatives from Illinois, Adam Kinzinger.

"This is 100% true. Not even discussed. Any leak will kill people in NATO countries, this is an automatic application of Article 5," he emphasized on Twitter.

It will be recalled that French President Emmanuel Macron had a telephone conversation with Putin on the subject of the Zaporizhzhya NPP the day before. The conversation took place for the first time after an almost three-month break.

In a conversation with Macron, Putin agreed to send the IAEA mission to the ZNPP.
