Ukraine began preparing a new program with the IMF

The Cabinet of Ministers reformed the working group on coordination of the negotiation process with the International Monetary Fund, which was created in 2020. The group will prepare a new program with the IMF.

This is evidenced by Resolution No. 942 of August 23, 2022.

According to the decision, the group is headed by the government commissioner for public debt management, Yuriy Butsa. The group included representatives of the Ministry of Finance, NBU, Ministry of Justice, Naftogaz, Ministry of Energy and other departments.

The group was given the task of "working out the main parameters of the future joint cooperation program with the IMF."

In addition to defining the main parameters of the program, the group will also prescribe "obligations of the Ukrainian side".

According to the decision, the chairman of the working group can decide to hold the meeting in real time (on-line) using appropriate technical means, in particular via the Internet.

It will be recalled that Minister of Finance Serhiy Marchenko stated that the Ministry expects to receive from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) under the new program at least more than Ukraine has to pay the Fund for debts.
