Due to COVID-19, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has extended the state of emergency in the unified state system of civil protection and quarantine throughout Ukraine until June 30, 2023, the government press service writes.

 “All-out war has diverted our attention from the pandemic, while COVID-19 has not gone away. People continue to get sick and some die. Due to the coronavirus, we lose about a hundred people every week. And although there is a general tendency in the world to decrease the incidence of COVID-19, in the European region there is an increase in this indicator. It is possible to expect an increase in the number of new cases of COVID-19 in the territory of Ukraine this spring. However, the dynamics of disease growth will depend on the variant of SARS-CoV-2 that will circulate and the level of vaccination coverage of the population," said Deputy Minister of Health - Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Ihor Kuzin.

 It is noted that the level of vaccination in Ukraine remains insufficient for the formation of collective immunity to COVID-19.

 As of April 16, more than 35.3 million vaccinations have been carried out since the start of the vaccination campaign. 16327904 people received one dose of vaccination, 15477258 received two doses, 3171471 people received the first booster dose, 296892 people received the second booster dose.

 In Ukraine, during the week from April 14 to 20, the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 fell by 34.6%, compared to the figure a week earlier - to 10.8 thousand. The indicators of both hospitalizations and deaths continue to decrease.
