WHO canceled the pandemic status for COVID-19

The World Health Organization cancels the pandemic status of the COVID-19 coronavirus. This was stated by WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

"Yesterday, the Emergency Committee met for the fifteenth time and recommended that I declare an end to the public health emergency of international concern. I have accepted this advice," Ghebreyesus said.

However, he said, this does not mean that COVID-19 is no longer a global health threat.

"Last week, COVID-19 claimed a life every three minutes - and that's just the deaths we know about," the WHO chief summed up.
