Podolyak: Russia is trying to take an operational pause in the war

The Russian Federation is seeking to organize a break in hostilities lasting at least 5 months, mobilizing its resources to the maximum. Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, wrote about this on Twitter.

"Russia's main task today is to organize an operational pause for 4-5 months (at least), sharply reducing the intensity of hostilities, stopping Ukraine's offensive operations and stopping shelling/destruction of its rear bases," the advisor said.

According to him, a pause in hostilities is necessary for a number of strategic goals:

  • Rearmament of the army;
  • Conducting additional mobilization;
  • Training of the armed forces;
  • Organizing new logistics;
  • Deployment of additional military production facilities;
  • Formation of a "coalition of war-tired" to put pressure on societies in different countries.

The adviser noted that all available resources are being used to achieve these goals, including information, diplomatic, behind-the-scenes and lobbying resources. However, he warned that any period of "pause in Russia's interests" could ultimately lead to further escalation of the conflict.

Podolyak emphasized that only Russia's military defeat could lead to peace.
