Russian army began third wave of offensive on Avdiivka - Barabash

The Russian army has begun a third wave of offensive against Avdiivka in Donetsk region. Russian troops do not stop their assault operations. This was stated by Vitaliy Barabash, head of the Avdiivka City Military Administration, during a telethon.

"They are attacking from all directions: from the flanks, from the south, from the north - as they have done before. They are also trying to conduct some assault actions from Donetsk through Spartak (a village near Avdiivka). They use a lot of infantry. The equipment went to the bridge. There is an asphalt surface there. It is damaged, destroyed, but nevertheless, there is a certain foundation. They are letting the equipment in," said Barabash.

According to him, the third wave of the Russian army's assault differs from the first and second. In particular, the difference is that the Russians used to go in columns.

"The first (wave) was marching like a parade. The second one split the columns and tried to move in at least three directions. Now they have opened a fourth direction - from Donetsk, from Spartak. They are trying to stretch more along the frontline," said Barabash.

He noted that so far the weather conditions do not allow the enemy to use more equipment. However, he predicts that Russia will use it much more.

Russian aviation is actively working in this area of the front. The enemy is dropping KABs. In addition, the Russians have increased the use of cluster bombs over the past few days. The Russian army conducts dozens of air strikes per day, with 30-40 massive shelling of the city.

"They are not using cluster bombs in the city. They work more on the positions around the city. They use KABs in the city. Most of all, they use KAB-500. On average, from 8 to 20 air strikes per day take place in the city," says the head of the CMA.
