Poland extends temporary protection for Ukrainians for another year

The Polish authorities have again extended for another year the temporary protection mechanism for Ukrainian citizens, which was launched by an executive decision of the Council of the European Union in March 2022. Now the updated term is valid until March 4, 2025. This was reported by the press service of the Polish government.

It is emphasized that this also means an automatic extension of the period of validity of the temporary protection certificates issued up to that time.

"Persons who have received a temporary protection certificate from the Office for Foreigners with an expiration date of March 4, 2023, September 4, 2023 or March 4, 2024 do not have to apply for new documents. These certificates will be valid until March 4, 2025," the statement said.

The press service adds that the established rules do not provide for the possibility of replacing already issued certificates in connection with the extension of temporary protection. It is noted that the documents will have a mark on the extension of their validity, so foreigners who have already received certificates can freely use them as documents confirming their legal status of residence in Poland.
