The European Union plans to limit the travel of Russian diplomats to the country in which they are accredited, and thus prohibit them from traveling to other countries of the Schengen zone. This was reported by Politico.


According to diplomatic sources familiar with the plan, this proposal is included in the 13th package of European sanctions against Russia.


This proposal meets the long-standing demands of the Czech Republic, which has previously insisted on restricting the freedom of movement of Russian diplomats. It is planned that Russian representatives will be issued special visas and residence permits.


However, the details of how this plan will be implemented remain unclear, as travel within the Schengen area is often not controlled.


Sources also note that the European Commission will expand the list of Russian companies that cannot receive dual-use goods and military products from European firms.
