Murder of Nikopol deputy mayor: suspect is taken into custody

A resident of Nikopol has been suspected in the case of the murder of the deputy mayor of the city, which took place on February 8. The suspect fired about 20 shots at the official's car. This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office.


"Under the procedural supervision of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, a resident of Nikopol was served a notice of suspicion of intentional murder (Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," the statement said.

According to the investigation, on February 8, the suspect fired at least 20 shots at a car driven by the deputy mayor of Nikopol on a city street.


"After that, he threw an explosive device into the car. The victim died on the spot. During the investigation, law enforcement officers seized weapons and ammunition," the Prosecutor General's Office added.


The suspect has now been detained in custody without the right to be released on bail.
