Human Right Watch accuses Russian military of executing Ukrainian soldiers who wanted to surrender

Since the beginning of December 2023, the Russian military has executed at least 15 Ukrainian soldiers who tried to surrender. This information was published in a report by the Human Right Watch organization.

In addition, HRW states that six more soldiers who had already surrendered may have been killed. The organization has verified 5 such cases, the videos of which were posted online.

Human Rights Watch reports that on April 22, it sent a letter to the Russian Ministry of Defense requesting information about the above cases, as well as whether the Russian military receives "orders to kill Ukrainian soldiers who surrender." But, as it is claimed, there was no response to the letter.

For their part, the Russian authorities have previously denied the execution of Ukrainian prisoners.
