Kiev: On Thursday, November 14, the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly will consider a draft resolution on the protection of human rights in the temporarily occupied Crimea.

This was announced in an exclusive comment to Ukrinform by the speaker of the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the UN Oleg Nikolenko.

According to Ukrinform’s own correspondent in New York, the consideration of the document will begin at about noon (evening in Kiev time). According to Nikolenko, the draft resolution was developed by the delegation of Ukraine, about 40 countries became its sponsors.

The Ukrainian diplomat noted that the project is based on three “Crimean” resolutions adopted in 2016-2018. “I want to remind you that starting in 2016, Ukraine has submitted for consideration first the Third Committee, and subsequently the General Assembly, the draft resolution. The situation with human rights in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, Ukraine”, aimed at protecting human rights in the context of Russian occupation “We analyze the processes taking place in Crimea, and added a number of new elements to the text this year”, - Nikolenko said.
