The Ministry of Health predicts an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the range of 40-60 thousand per day and peak incidence already in a week or two, said Health Minister Viktor Lyashko.
"We forecast 40-60 thousand people sick per day, and already in the next few weeks. That is, in a week or two Ukraine will reach the peak values of the number of cases of coronavirus disease," Lyashko told reporters on the sidelines of Parliament on Friday.
At the same time, he stressed that Ukraine does not envisage the introduction of a lockdown, because the country - adaptive quarantine, "which showed its effectiveness in 2021, when we passed two waves of the pandemic, by the fact that in the first wave ten regions did not enter the "red" zone at all, and in the fall - six."
"Since Ukraine is large, the spread of coronavirus disease, the registration of the number of cases and the burden on the health care system is not uniform, and when one area can come out of the "red" level of epidemiological insecurity, another can go into it. So there won't be a statewide lockdown... We expect to pass in the adaptive quarantine in order to get ahead of this golden mean: so that the health care system would not experience a collapse and the impact on the economy of our country would be as small as possible", - explained the Minister.
