Germany promises to help the Ukrainian military with instruction and maintenance

German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock has promised that Germany will help Ukraine with military training and maintenance of military equipment.

"Where other partners supply artillery, we will help with training and maintenance of military equipment," the minister said Wednesday at a news conference in Lithuania.

She said the German government, "according to the Bundeswehr, can no longer supply weapons from its own stocks," so it plans to turn to industry for parts and "further material."

In addition, Germany intends to approach NATO partners who have "Soviet-type weapons" that can be supplied to Ukraine, the foreign minister said.
