German Foreign Minister: Security from Putin's Russia is important for Europe

With the help of "pseudo-referendums" in the occupied territories, Russian President Vladimir Putin made it clear that he is not looking for ways to end the war. This was stated by the head of the German Foreign Ministry, Annalena Berbock, writes Spiegel.

"Therefore, what is important for Europe is not security with Putin's Russia, but security from Putin's Russia," Berbok said.

She again called for European solidarity, reminding that solidarity is not an end in itself, but the basis of the common security policy of the EU and NATO.

"The latest EU decision to train 15,000 Ukrainian soldiers in Poland and partly in Germany makes it clear: we stand for each other. We can rely on each other," she said.

Burbock also sees the supply of arms to Ukraine as an important contribution to dispelling doubts about Germany's international reliability.

"We supply weapons to Ukraine not only to save lives. But with these supplies, I hope, there will also be an increase in trust and solidarity," she said.
