War in Ukraine will be long, but NATO countries are ready to supply weapons - Stoltenberg

Russia's war against Ukraine will be a long-term one. However, NATO allies are capable of continuing to supply Kiev with weapons for as long as necessary.

This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, quoted by Politico.

According to him, the allies in the Alliance have a "political and moral obligation" not to stop supplying weapons to Ukraine.

"As long as it takes, my whole message is that we have to be prepared for the long haul. I can't say exactly how long this war will last. But I just say to the decision makers in NATO capitals ... that we have a political and moral obligation to provide substantial support for a long time," Stoltenberg said.

He also stressed the need to support the supply of modern, heavy weapons to Ukraine, "as NATO allies have been doing for a long time," and the role it can play in providing support.

Stoltenberg added that the war in Ukraine actually began back in 2014, when Russia occupied Crimea and supported militants in eastern Ukraine.

Recall that NATO recently talked about the transfer of weapons to Ukraine. In particular, they were talking about long-range artillery.

Stoltenberg also said that NATO was preparing a plan for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to switch to the alliance's weapons.
