Hungarian MOL is ready to pay for the transit of Russian oil through Ukraine

Hungarian MOL is negotiating to take over payment for the transit of Russian oil through the territory of Ukraine, the company said.

"Transportation of oil through the pipeline "Druzhba" was suspended for several days, as far as we know, due to technical problems of banks related to the payment of the transit fee by the Russian side. Despite the fact that MOL has oil reserves for several weeks, the company is working to resolve the situation, and is negotiating to take over the fee," said a representative of the press service of the Hungarian company.

Earlier, Russia's Transneft reported that on August 4 Ukrtransnafta stopped transit of Russian oil through Ukraine due to the failure to pay transit fees. It was noted that the sums paid on July 22 for transit in August were returned to Transneft's account on July 28 because the EU regulation 2022/1269 came into effect.

The southern branch of the Druzhba oil pipeline running through Ukraine supplies oil to refineries in Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic on the basis of a long-term contract between Transneft and Ukrtransnafta JSC for the provision of oil transportation services on a 100% prepayment basis.
