The head of the European Parliament spoke at the EU summit in support of the introduction of a gas price ceiling

The head of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsol, in her traditional speech to European leaders at the EU summit, supported the establishment of a ceiling price for gas and called for increased military aid to Ukraine.

"We need a strong signal of unity. That's why the European Parliament called for an EU-wide gas price cap," she said on Friday in Prague before the start of an informal meeting of the European Council.

According to her, the EU needs "better and more orderly cooperation between states on long-term gas prices." "In the spring, our gas storages will need replenishment, and we must be able to buy gas at a reasonable price from reliable partners," said the head of the European Parliament.

Speaking about the events in Ukraine, Metsola said that the EU "must continue to support" Ukrainians by providing military aid.

The head of the European Parliament also spoke about the sanctions against the Russian Federation: "They are working. The opinion of the European Parliament is obvious: we must go further."
