British Defense Minister: "Let Finland be a lesson for Putin"

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, as well as the heads of the British Foreign and Defense Ministries, welcomed Finland's entry into the North Atlantic Treaty Organization on Tuesday.

Their statements are cited by the PA Media agency.

According to Sunak, the day of Finland's accession to NATO became historic for both of them, as it "made Alyas stronger and gave each of us more security."

"Now all NATO members need to take the steps necessary to accept Sweden so that we can be together as a single Alliance in defense of freedom in Europe and around the world," he emphasized.

The head of the Foreign Office, James Cleverley, who was at NATO headquarters during Finland's adoption ceremony, called it "a direct result of Vladimir Putin's aggression and his illegal invasion of Ukraine."

"Russia thought that its aggression would divide us. Instead, we have become even closer together, resolutely defending the principles of freedom and the rule of law," the British foreign minister emphasized.
