Italian Parliament continues to provide military aid to Ukraine

The Italian Chamber of Deputies has given the green light to continue military aid to Ukraine. This was reported by ANSA.

"The Chamber of Deputies has given the green light to a decree extending the authorization for the transfer of military vehicles, materials and equipment to the government of Ukraine," the report says.

The vote was accepted by a majority of 218 deputies, while 42 spoke against it.

Italy is noted as one of the most reliable supporters of Ukraine, especially in the context of the leadership of the three-party coalition, which has been headed by far-right Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni since October 2022.

Deputies from Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini's ruling Lega party also voted in favor of the decree.

"We cannot give up for the sake of Ukraine. We will not allow autocracy to destroy our future," - said Paolo Formentini, a deputy from the Lega party.

At the same time, he called for more efforts to reach a solution at the negotiating table.
