The European Parliament is ready to allocate EUR 50 billion to Ukraine for the next three months

The European Parliament's Budget and Foreign Affairs Committees have approved providing Ukraine with €50 billion for the period the period 2024-2027, Interfax-Ukraine reports.


The mechanism for Ukraine consists of loans (€33 billion) and grants (€17 billion). The decision was made at a joint meeting of the European Parliament's committees on Thursday in Brussels.


"The committees approved the revision of the EU's long-term budget, a multi-year financial framework. This includes a €50 billion Fund for Ukraine and the Strategic Technology Platform for Europe, which aims to make the EU more strategically independent and promote innovation," the European Parliament said.


66 deputies voted in favor, five voted against, and there were no abstentions.


"This demonstrates that the EU supports Ukraine and will support it as long as necessary," the EP emphasizes.


It was reported there that the next step will be a vote at the EP plenary session which will take place on February 27 in Strasbourg.
