The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the procedure for the use of firearms by civilians during participation in repulsion and deterrence of armed aggression of the Russian Federation and/or other states against Ukraine during martial law. The decision was adopted on April 15. This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.

The order regulates the issue of granting authority to civilians to use firearms during martial law. It also establishes a list of legal grounds and an algorithm for making decisions and informing civilians about the use of firearms in cooperation with the military command.

The resolution was developed by the Ministry of Defense in pursuance of Article 2 of the law "On ensuring the participation of civilians in the protection of Ukraine", which states: "The use of firearms by civilians received under this law shall be similar to the use of weapons by military personnel during their tasks to repulse armed aggression against Ukraine in the manner approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine".
