The National Security and Defense Council explained why Ukraine has a shortage of fuel

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov explained in a TV marathon why there was a shortage of fuel in Ukraine.

"Those companies that are engaged in supply, unfortunately, did not count on the patriotism of our population, which began to return to their homes very quickly. Before May 1 and Easter, there were a large number of people who began to return, despite requests not to go yet," Danilov noted.

He urged Ukrainians not to forget that we are at war. And such situations can happen. Danilov believes that in the near future everything will settle down and the gas stations will have the necessary amount of fuel, and subsequently all the gas stations destroyed by the Russian occupants in the liberated territories will be rebuilt.

On April 28, there was a shortage of fuel at gas stations in the capital and then throughout the country. Motorists stood in line for hours to fill up their cars. Filling stations sell a limited amount of fuel - from 10 to 20 liters, there are also not all brands of gasoline and most gas stations are lacking diesel fuel.

May 1 the Cabinet of Ministers decided to increase the marginal level of trade mark-ups, which are added to the average cost of 1 liter of fuel.

Thus, in particular, the marginal level of surcharges per liter of diesel fuel was raised from UAH 5 to UAH 7 including VAT, for motor gasoline - from UAH 4.55 to UAH 6.50 including VAT.

The changes were introduced for the period of martial law and three months after its termination or cancellation.

The market situation is expected to improve within a week.
