German Chancellor: Putin has been defeated, he must stop the war

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz promised to support Ukraine as long as necessary and called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war.

He said this in an address dedicated to the anniversary of the Russian invasion.

"Russia has been waging a merciless war of aggression in Ukraine for a year... What really amazes us is the determination and courage of the Ukrainians, with whom they are fighting for freedom. Germany supports them in this and will support them as powerfully and as long as necessary" - said Scholz.

According to him, if you look at the events of last year, it is obvious that the Russian president was defeated.

"Vladimir Putin bet on division, but got the opposite result: Ukraine is united like never before, the European Union is united," Scholz said.

"Germany stands steadfastly on the side of Ukraine - today and in the future. After all, it is not our supply of weapons that continues the war. On the contrary: the sooner Putin admits that his imperialist goal will not be achieved, the greater the chances of ending the war. Everything is in Putin's hands. He can stop this war," added the chancellor.

We will remind you that on February 24, the anniversary of the Russian invasion, the German Bundestag raised the flag of Ukraine over its building in the center of Berlin.
