Ministry of Health: Ukraine will treat infertility for free

For the first time, the Ministry of Health is introducing funding for assisted reproductive technologies (in vitro fertilization) under the program of state guarantees of medical care for the population. This is stated on the website of the Ministry of Health.

The ministry notes that in most countries, infertility treatment services are underfunded and inaccessible to the population, in particular due to cost and social stigma. At the same time, statistics show that the number of infertile couples in Ukraine is steadily increasing, which requires active participation from the state, the Ministry of Health emphasized.

"Modern life significantly reduces the quality of reproductive functions of Ukrainians. And if earlier this problem was solved only at private expense, now we provide an opportunity to use infertility treatment services free of charge," said First Deputy Minister of Health Serhiy Dubrov.

According to him, it is also important to ensure the right to parenthood for military personnel.

The rate for hospitals in the new area of infertility treatment will be UAH 60,324 per service provided. The projected number of medical services is 30,400 cycles. This is expected to result in the birth of about 10,000 children a year.

The ministry noted that women will be referred for the first course of infertility treatment at the expense of the budget only on medical grounds.
