Power outage schedules will also be in effect in winter - Ukrenergo

Power outage schedules in Ukraine will be applied in winter as well. This was announced by Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, Chairman of the Board of Ukrenergo, during a telethon.

He noted that electricity consumption usually increases in winter. And Ukrainians should prepare for possible blackouts at the household level.

“I can say that a difficult winter awaits us. This winter may be difficult because consumption increases in winter, and even with the plans to restore generation that exist today, it is quite likely that it will not be possible to completely exclude the possibility of planned outages,” explained Kudrytskyi.

He also noted that it will take days and weeks to restore the damaged power plants. We are talking about months, and for some power units the restoration will take years.

“We should not expect any rapid increase in generation in the power system in the coming weeks. The deficit will remain in the coming months. And from time to time it will reach such levels that it will not be possible to cover it with imports and emergency aid. Therefore, we need to be prepared for blackouts. These are not blackouts, these are controlled outages that we, as an operator, use to preserve the integrity of the power system,” added Kudrytskyi.
