In Australia after the New Year children from 5 to 11 years old will be vaccinated by Pfizer

In Australia, starting January 10, children from 5 to 11 years old will be vaccinated against COVID-19. A vaccine from Pfizer has been chosen for them.

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Reuters.

In particular, the edition reports that Australia will begin introducing vaccines against COVID-19 for children aged 5 to 11 from January 10, 2022.

"This will be welcome news for the millions of families across the country who want to be able to vaccinate their children," said Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

Initially, children will be vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine. Regulators are also considering the Moderna vaccine.

After reviewing clinical data from Canada, the vaccine advisory panel recommended an eight-week interval between two doses, which can be reduced to three weeks in the event of a coronavirus outbreak.

It is worth noting that in Australia, nearly 90% of the country's population over the age of 16 has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. About 70% of children aged 12 to 15 years have also been fully vaccinated.

Meanwhile, countries in Europe are now experiencing the highest rates of coronavirus infection on record. The reason for this is the recirculation of the Delta strain.

About this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine told the head of the Center for Health Economics of the Kiev School of Economics Yuri Ganichenko.

"The growth started with three countries. It was Russia, Portugal and the UK. It started at the beginning of the summer and then spread to other countries, it reached Ukraine later, in the fall. And now the countries are entering a second round of outbreaks. So far it is a Delta wave. And countries are now gaining momentum with the same wave," Ganichenko specified.

Recall that over the past 24 hours, 11,327 people were infected with coronavirus in Ukraine, and 442 people died. Yesterday, 24,456 people recovered from COVID-19.
