Russian invasion of Ukraine kills 3,974 civilians - UN

Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine has already resulted in 3,974 civilian deaths. This is reported in the report of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. 

 

"From 4:00 a.m. on February 24, 2022, when the armed attack by the Russian Federation on Ukraine began, until midnight (local time) on May 24, 2022, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (UN OHCHR) recorded 8,628 civilian casualties: 3,974 dead and 4,654 wounded," the report said.

 

According to the UN, the victims included 1,497 men, 985 women, 91 girls and 99 boys, as well as 69 children and 1,233 adults of an as yet unknown gender. 

 

Injured: 938 men, 619 women, 108 girls and 130 boys, as well as 164 children and 2,695 adults whose gender is unknown.

 

As noted, most people were killed by wide-area explosive weapons - heavy artillery, multiple rocket launchers, rockets and air strikes.
