President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro for his neutral attitude towards the war in Ukraine.
The president said this in an interview with the Latin American TV channel Globo.
"I do not support his position of neutrality. I don't think you can be neutral in war. Let's imagine World War II. Back then, many leaders were neutral at first. This allowed fascism to "eat up" half of Europe, and then go further and further. And then to take over the whole Europe because of the neutrality," he said.
According to Zelensky, it is impossible to be somewhere in the middle on the issue of Russia's war against Ukraine.
"You can't say, 'I'm ready to be a mediator.' Mediator in what? Mediator of the war? Mediator between whom and whom? Here the war is not between Russia and Ukraine, but Russia's war against the people of Ukraine," he explained.
As reported, on 18 July, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a telephone conversation with his Brazilian counterpart Jair Bolsonaro. In particular, the sides discussed the resumption of Ukrainian grain exports.
