China blamed the U.S. for Russia's war against Ukraine: the Foreign Ministry responded

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry urges China not to politicize the issues of Russian aggression against Ukraine, but instead to use its influence on Moscow to force it to stop the war, said Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko. This is reported by UP.

"We expect that China, as a responsible member of the international community, which consistently upholds the principles of peace and respect for international law, will not politicize the issues of Russian aggression against Ukraine. We expect that Beijing will instead use its influence on Moscow to force it to stop the war and return to respecting the UN Charter and international law, whose fundamental principles are non-use of force and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of foreign states," Nikolenko said.

He pointed out that only the Russian Federation is responsible for the armed aggression against Ukraine, which in 2014 occupied Crimea and part of Donbas, and in February 2022 started an unprovoked large-scale war.

"It is important to face the truth: the international community was forced to impose sanctions against Russia to deprive it of further warfare and hold it accountable for its crimes," the speaker explained.

As a reminder, Chinese Foreign Ministry Speaker Zhao Lijian said that "those who started the crisis in Ukraine and the biggest factor fueling it, the United States, should think deeply about their erroneous actions, pressure and fanning the fire in the Ukrainian issue and stop playing out the block confrontation and creating a new Cold War, taking advantage of the situation."
