China supports the holding of a peace conference on Ukraine - Foreign Minister

China is in favor of holding an international peace conference, which will be recognized by both Russia and Ukraine in due course. This was stated by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in an interview with ECNS.

According to him, such a conference should ensure the participation of all interested parties and the discussion of all peace initiatives.

"All conflicts should end at the negotiating table. The sooner negotiations begin, the sooner peace will come," Wang said.

He noted that China is committed to paving the way for the end of the conflict and the start of peace talks.

The minister emphasized that prolonging the conflict often leads to deterioration and escalation, which is unacceptable for all parties.

"The lessons in this regard should not be forgotten," Wang said.

He noted that China has always taken an "objective and impartial" position on the war in Ukraine and that Beijing's goal is to "stop" the conflict.

"We have promoted peace talks. Our president has spoken to all world leaders, including the leaders of Russia and Ukraine, and we have a special representative who has gone to the region to mediate. All of our efforts are aimed at achieving one goal, which is to pave the way for an end to the conflict and the start of peace talks," Wang Yi said.
