Poland proposes to shoot down Russian missiles approaching NATO borders

The countries of the North Atlantic Alliance are considering an option to shoot down Russian missiles flying towards the territory of NATO members. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister of Poland Andrzej Szejna in an interview with RMF24.

"The Alliance is analyzing various options, including those that will allow us to shoot down missiles when they are already very close to the NATO border," he said.

At the same time, the Polish official emphasized that such actions should take place with the consent of Ukraine and taking into account international consequences, as in this case NATO missiles will hit Russian targets outside the territory of the Alliance Treaty.

"It cannot be that the aggressor will impose any rules on us every time. It has to get used to the fact that NATO, the EU and other democratic countries will set a certain tone when it comes to resolving the war in Ukraine," Szejna emphasized.

According to the diplomat, Russia understood that if the missile that recently violated Polish airspace flew further into the country, it would have been shot down. Szejna added that this was a deliberate move by the Russians to test the vigilance of the Polish armed forces.
